Infrared emitters for homogeneous heating
Textiles, paper, plastic foils or non-wovens on conveyor belts, and also ropes, wires or ribbons need heating processes. Reliable and homogeneous heat is needed for the drying of coatings, for embossing, laminating or finishing.
Infrared heating systems offer some advantages:
• Infrared emitters transfer heat without contact and at high output. They can be matched to the product with their wave length, power and even the form.
• Quick response times minimize heat damages at sudden band stopps.
• Infrared emitters can be controlled very well. They help to keep temperature limits or follow temperature profiles within seconds.
• High power densities of up to 150 kW per m2 provide a very good drying efficiency at ways as short as possible.
• A controllable edge heating helps to heat the complete product width homogenously.
• In some cases a combination of infrared pre-heating with a hot air oven or stenter is beneficial. Infrared systems are custom-built and can easily be retrofitted into an existing plant.
• In the drying of coatings it has already been proven, that infrared radiation can penetrate to the required depth in the coating system and to dry the coating film from inside outwards. Skin- or blister-formation on the surface is prevented
Carbon Infrared Emitter CIR®
It is important to match the infrared emitter to the absorption characteristics of the coating or substrate being dried. Water absorbs energy predominantly in the medium wave portion of the infrared spectrum.
All
Carbon infrared emitters CIR® combine effective medium wave radiation with high surface power density and accelerate the efficient drying of water-based paints, inks and coatings.
Heraeus carbon infrared emitters CIR® feature a unique design of the heating filament that combines the effective medium-wave radiation with very short response times in the seconds range.
